Porsche 911 GT3 with Manthey Kit: Is It Worth $120k Extra?

If you've got $450,000 to spend on a 911 GT3, Porsche has a follow-up question: want to go faster? The answer, in the form of the new Manthey Kit, will set you back another $120,000. That's nearly $570,000 all up — more than most Perth homes cost in the early 2000s. So what do you actually get?

What the Manthey Kit Actually Changes

Manthey Racing has been making Porsches faster since 1996, and the company is now Porsche's official global GT partner. Their kit for the 992.2 GT3 isn't just cosmetic. You get a towering carbon-fibre rear wing, a more aggressive front splitter, side canards, carbon aerodiscs on the rear wheels, and a revised underbody diffuser. Together, these generate up to 540kg of downforce at 285km/h — compared to 385kg in the standard GT3.

Under the skin, there's four-way adjustable coilover suspension with stiffer front springs (20 per cent firmer) and slightly softer rear springs (seven per cent). Braided brake lines and upgraded brake pads round out the package. The engine and exhaust are untouched — the 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six still screams to a 9000rpm redline, and that's no bad thing.

Proof the kit works: the 992.2 GT3 with Manthey Kit lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:50.863 — five seconds quicker than the standard car. Crucially, it all retains Porsche's factory warranty.

On Track: Where the Money Makes Sense

The first Manthey Kit to land in Australia was put through its paces on a wet circuit — challenging conditions that actually revealed something useful. Even on a slick surface, the sharpened front-end and revised suspension geometry were noticeable, delivering more direct turn-in than the standard GT3. When the track dried, the aero came into its own. Through fast sweepers the car pressed itself into the surface, making it feel planted and predictable in a way that genuinely builds confidence.

The brakes showed no fade across multiple hard sessions. The suspension absorbed kerbs without unsettling the car. And the PDK gearbox remained as crisp and instant as ever. For WA buyers who track their cars at Barbagallo Raceway in Wanneroo, or make the trip to Collie's South West Motorplex, this is a setup that rewards commitment.

Should WA Buyers Consider It?

Let's be honest — this is a car for a very specific buyer. On Perth streets or a run up to Lancelin, the standard GT3 is already more than most people will ever use. The Manthey Kit is purpose-built for the track, and its $120,000 premium is only justified if you're actually going to use it there regularly.

That said, if you're already in the market for a GT3 and track days are a serious part of your life, the Manthey Kit makes a compelling case. It doesn't just add downforce numbers on a spec sheet — it makes the car more approachable at the limit, not less. That's a rare thing at this level, and it's what separates serious engineering from badge-chasing.

Only one example has arrived in Australia so far. If you want one, talk to Porsche Centre Perth sooner rather than later.
